Tracking

In-house tracking services are available for single instruments and small groups (three or less). Although primarily intended for acoustical instruments, others requiring light amplification are also possible. The space is ideally suited for single instrument overdubs, and performers are welcome to use any of the limited instruments available. Most will likely find that all technical and electronic requirements can be handled in-house.

Tracking is handled primarily via a Royer R-121 ribbon microphone and 2 Neumann KM-184s through a solid state Focusrite ISA-428 preamp. A Summit Audio tube preamp is also available if a different color is desired. Analog compression can be handled via a Summit Audio TLA-50 leveling amplifier, or in the event this is not appropriate, via variety of digital compressor plugins post conversion.

In addition to live tracking, re-amping and re-recording of previously recorded tracks is also possible, if one wishes to achieve a different recorded sound than what was originally captured.

Remote location recording of live concerts and recitals is offered as well, using a combination of XY and M/S recording techniques.

The following links are excerpts from projects that have been recorded entirely in-house, with the exception of the third, which is a remote location recording. Click the info tags to learn more about the specific techniques used to capture these examples.
