Who Am I and What the
Fuck Am I Doing?

The first few years of college, 1992-1995

When I arrived at Carnegie Mellon University in late August of 1992 to begin studying music composition, I had no idea what I was getting into...

And I still don't, really :-) I don't have too much to say about this period in my life- perhaps because I am in some way still too close to it to have a sort of fond, nostalgic recollection of it. There have definitely been some wonderful moments, but for the most part this period is marked by a lot of weirdness- sometimes in an excellent way, sometimes not... I was a bit of a hippy for a little while, and I even had some hair, but then I slowly started becoming a composer. I even quit playing the guitar for a period of a couple years, but eventually picked it back up again... blah, blah, blah...

The pieces listed here are either pieces that I decided weren't cool enough to go the distance, or they were just experiments that I was able to get readings of. Most of them have been pilfered for ideas and then recycled back into other, more recent pieces that I like. I guess I'm just putting them here for the sake of curiosity, and plus, I have to have something to show for these few years.
